In Singapore, there are three main taboos regarding shoes: slippers, sandals that expose the toes and heels, and black or purple shoes (due to color taboos).
Slippers: Wearing slippers in formal occasions or public places may be considered impolite. Men with long hair and wearing jeans may even be denied entry.
Sandals that expose the toes and heels: These sandals are generally not allowed in formal occasions, at school, or at business events. It is recommended to choose other appropriate shoes.
Black or purple shoes: Singaporeans consider black and purple unlucky or unlucky colors, so wearing shoes of these colors may be unwelcome.
